Channel 4 signs prankster Brodkin
Simon Brodkin's stunt at a VW car launch was for a new Channel 4 prank show, it can be revealed.
The comic, best known for his Lee Nelson alter-ego, has signed a contract with the broadcaster's on-demand service All 4 for a number of filmed stunts.
Channel 4 confirmed: 'Simon has signed an exclusive deal with All 4 and will be a key face on the platform.'
Brodkin hit the headlines earlier this week when he disrupted a VW presentation at the Geneva motor show to highlight the emissions scandal that has engulfed the company.
He ran across stage in VW overalls and a prop labelled 'cheat box', which he placed under the car on display. In a German accent Brodkin said: 'I have a new cheat box. No one's going to find out about this one.'
Marketing chief Jurgen Stackmann, who was delivering the presentation, said: 'It doesn't need repairs, it's a perfect car. Thank you.'
The new videos, which will be made by Avalon Entertainment, the production arm of the agent which represents the comedian, will air later this year.
Brodkin previously showered embattled Fifa chief Sepp Blatter with dollar bills at a high-profile press conference, snuck in to warm up with Manchester United’s squad ahead of a Premier League fixture, and invaded Kanye West's stage at Glastonbury – all for fun, without any Channel 4 contract to fulfil.
