A little more conversation...
The Gold TV channel has commissioned a second series of The Interviews, its archive show featuring classic chat show clips.
This new batch of six hour-long episodes will focus on Peter Sellers, Frankie Howerd, Barry Humphries, Bruce Forsyth, Kenny Everett and Julie Walters.
The broadcaster says: ‘The Interviews combines some remarkably frank interviews with hilarious and revealing archive material, offering a rare and fascinating insight into the personal lives of these iconic people.’
They series will launch next month, with comedy actress Tamsin Grieg providing the voiceover.
UKTV’s senior commissioning editor Iain Coyle said: ‘As a gentleman of a certain age, these documentaries are a unique opportunity to get some perspective, and celebrate, some of the amazing comedic talent that I grew up with.
‘Not only are they fascinating and funny but often very moving too, a real credit to the production team.’
The series is being made by North One, whose executive producer, John Quinn said: ‘The first person perspective makes for some genuinely fascinating insights. From Peter Sellers’ insistence that he was dull – while, ironically, baring the darkest secrets of his soul – to Barry Humphries explaining the bizarre dynamic between himself and his most famous creation, Dame Edna Everage.’
Series one aired last year and featured Kenneth Williams, The Two Ronnies, Les Dawson, Oliver Reed, Spike Milligan, Peter Cook and Dudley Moore, with Dawn French providing the voiceover.
