Making a very good impression
Impressionist Rory Bremner has announced a mini-tour in aid of the flood victims across the North of England.
The satirist will perform six dates next month, joined by various stand-ups including Justin Moorhouse and Fred MacAulay.
He said: ’It was heartbreaking to see the devastation caused by the floods in Cumbria. To help out, I’m bringing a top line-up of comics for some special fund-raisers [to] support those hardest hit.’
The Come Hell And High Water tour kicks off at the Old Fire Station in Penrith on Tuesday February 23.
Adrian Lochhead, director of venue operators Eden Arts, said: ‘We are really pleased that such a prominent performer and prodigious talent such as Rory is keen to help Cumbria bounce back.
‘The fact that he is kicking off his short tour at The Old Fire Station, in Penrith, is massively appropriate. During the December flood crisis, the main part of the building was turned over to local flood relief volunteers for office space and warehousing for the huge volume of donations we received from across the UK. ‘
He will then visit The Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal, on Wednesday 24, The Theatre by the Lake, Keswick on Thursday 25, the Lancaster Grand on February 29, with a further date in York to be confirmed.
These follow on from a previously announced Wring Out The Clowns flood benefit gig at the 1,500 capacity Victoria Theatre, Halifax, on February 8, which features a star line-up of Sarah Millican, Chris Ramsey, Justin Moorhouse, and Jack Carroll, as well as Bremner.
