Harry Hill to front ITV panel show
Harry Hill is set to front a new panel show for ITV.
The comedian is hosting a run-through of the project, provisionally titled Harry Hill's Alien Fun Capsule, at the Invisible Dot in London later this month.
ITV is keen to find a hit panel-show formula, given how successful the format has been on other channels.
However Hill said he wasn't sure what form his version of the idea would take.
'I'm developing a new thing for ITV,' he said. 'It's a panel show – I think. 'I don't really have a strong idea of what it is going to be.
'We're probably recording in the New Year. I'm going to try out some new ideas in pubs and clubs over the next month or two.'
Hill – who will be seen on BBC One this Christmas as the title character in Professor Branestawm Returns – confirmed that he would also host the ITV show.
He has long been the channel's comedy figurehead, having hosted TV Burp for 11 years from 2002, and voicing You've Been Framed since 2004. He also hosted a revived Stars In Their Eyes earlier this year, although his subversive take on the format divided critics, and the show was axed.
ITV has struggled to find a panel show hit, although Keith Lemon has had some success reviving Through The Keyhole. Earlier this year the broadcaster launched the sports show Play To The Whistle, featuring Holly Willoughby, Romesh Ranganathan and Seann Walsh, but it failed to make an impact.
Before that its last panel show effort was the Paddy McGuinness-fronted Mad Mad World back in 2012.
