Appearing in Don Quixote in Stratford

Rufus Hound is to make his debut with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

The former stand-up is to star as Sancho Panza in a new production of Don Quixote, with Shameless actor David Threlfall in the title role.

The adaptation will run at the RSC’s Swan Theatre in Stratford—upon-Avon from February 25 to May 21 next year. It coincides with the 400th anniversary of the death of author Miguel de Cervantes in April.

It will be directed by Angus Jackson, while the script has been adapted from the novel by James Fenton

Since stepping away from the live stand-up circuit, Hound has appeared in the West End runs of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, One Man, Two Guvnors and Trevor Nunn’s War of the Roses, and played Sam Swift in an episode of Doctor Who.

He is also about to return to Radio 4 as the host of My Teenage Diary.
