Julia Davis directs her first sitcom
Julia Davis has directed her first sitcom.
Camping is described as a 'dark comedy' and stars Davis and Rufus Jones, alongside Steve Pemberton, Vicki Pepperdine and Desperate Housewives' Jonathan Cake.
The Baby Cow production for Sky Atlantic was shot around Devon and wrapped earlier this month. Ted Dowd of Moone Boy and Gavin & Stacey is producing.
Plot details are currently under wraps. But local shopowner Jac Bevan revealed to the Sidmouth Herald how the shoot used his Another Man's Treasure store for filming Jones in lederhosen.
'It looked funny, but not after the 10th take' he said. 'I felt a bit sorry for the actors – it’s quite boring doing the same thing over and over again'.
Other locations included a pub, off-licence and Budleigh Salterton beach.
Davis, who grew up in nearby Somerset, will shortly be seen alongside Jones in the upcoming, two-hour Hunderby special, another Baby Cow production for Sky Atlantic.
She also wrote and stars in Channel 4's forthcoming breakfast television sitcom Morning Has Broken with Friends' David Schwimmer and her co-writer Nick Mohammed.
Davis’s only previous directing credit is her episode of Sky’s Little Crackers in 2010, in which comedy stars told a Christmas anecdote from their youth.
