Another murder spree for Successville

BBC Three orders a second series

BBC Three has ordered a second series of Murder In Successville.

Shooting will start on the improv comedy hybrid in January to air later in the year, after the channel makes its move online only.

The show features Tom Davis as DI Sleet, solving murders with the aid of celebrities – while a cast of comics, including Tom Stourton, Colin Hoult and Cariad Lloyd, play parodies of other stars.

Dermot O'Leary, Louis Smith, Deborah Meaden and Greg James were among the real-life guests in series one, which aired in May and June this year.

Davis said: 'I'm over the moon to be heading back to Successville and I would like to thank the BBC for embracing the madness of the show. We have loads more mad places to go and I can't wait to see who we are taking there. Let's go solve a crime.'

BBC Three controller Damian Kavanagh added: 'BBC Three will always be home to the best British creative ideas and talent and Murder In Successville is no exception. The guys were amazing in the first series and I am sure we will have celebs knocking down our door to get under DI Sleet this time.'

The series, made by Tiger Aspect, will again be directed by James de Frond.

Davis has previously spoken of the guests he'd like to secure for a second series, saying: 'Someone like Nicole Scherzinger would be fun - I think she'd be up for a laugh. Someone like Clare Balding would be interesting. Richard Osman? He's a really big fan of the show and he'd be real fun. I'd love David Beckham, or Victoria. Victoria Beckham would be great, she's got such a great sense of humour - and she'd be fun, I think. But to be honest with you, I'd just love to do it again - and if Chris Biggins is the only person we can get to do it, then so be it!'

Here's a clip from series one in which real Jamie Laing interrogates fake Jimmy Carr, and hereis our review of that episode.
