Hitchhikers' original Trillian dies

Susan Sheridan was 68

Susan Sheridan, who played Trillian in the original radio series of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, has died aged 68.

Producer Dirk Maggs wrote: 'Deeply saddened that our Susan Sheridan - Trillian in Hitchhiker's - has died peacefully at home.'

Her other roles included voicing Princess Elionwy in the Disney animation The Black Cauldron.

She recently revived her Hitchhikers role in a live stage tour of the show.

Among those paying tribute on twitter were actress Susan Penhaligon, who said: 'My dear, dear friend Susan Sheridan has died peacefully at home. We'll miss your amazing spirit and giggles Sue.'

And Jem Roberts, who wrote the official history of Hitchhikers, said: 'Despite being prepared, it's so sad to lose such a key member of Hitchhiker's Guide family, Susan Sheridan, the original Trillian. So long.'

Sheridan was replaced by Sandra Dickinson when Hitchhikers moved to TV in 1981 television adaptation.

She is survived by her husband, musician Max Brittain and three daughters.
