BBC Gein's a new comedy
Sketch group Gein's Family Giftshop are to make a comedy series for BBC Radio Wales.
The station has commissioned Kath Hughes, James Meehan, Edward Easton and Kiri Pritchard-McLean to create three specials, each with a different premise.
In Puffin Island, three friends find themselves marooned; in DCI Pritchard, a police officer must solve a murder on a dark country road; and in Ghost Hunting the team explore the most haunted places in Wales.
The group were named best newcomers at this year's Chortle Awards and nominated for best newcomer at last year's Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Awards.
Hughes is from Wrexham and Pritchard-McLean from Anglesey, and the troupe wrote on their website: 'Seeing as two of us are Welsh, we figured we'd try our luck at getting on the Welsh Radio Waves. Turns out it worked.
They added: 'We're delighted to be allowed to make have our foul mouths beeped out on BBC Radio Wales. The three episodes are all different and we've loved learning how to write for radio. Turns out if you just replace a rude word for a medical term or a posh word, you're OK.'
The shows are being recorded at Salford University tomorrow and next Wednesday. Free tickets are available here.
