Veep gets another term

Silicon Valley renewed too

HBO has renewed both Veep and tech comedy Silicon Valley.

Neither decision comes as a huge surprise. The broadcaster had already announced that David Mandel, a former Curb Your Enthusiasm executive producer, had been lined up to replace Armando Iannucci as Veep's showrunner after he announced he was stepping down from the political comedy at the end of the fourth season, which started at the weekend.

Silicon Valley, inspired by King of the Hill creator Mike Judge's experiences as an IT engineer in the 1980s, also started its new season, its second, on Sunday.

'Veep and Silicon Valley are terrific series, and I'm immensely proud that they will return to HBO next year,' said HBO's president of programming, Michael Lambardo.

'Along with Game of Thrones and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, both of which have already been renewed for 2016, they give HBO a stellar Sunday night like no other.'
