And the Chortle student people's choice is....

Wildcard semi-finalists also named

Lauren Pattison has been voted the People's Choice finalist in the Chortle Student Comedy Awards.

The 3rd year performance student at Northumbria University is already a familiar face on the North East open mic circuit.

And now the 21-year-old will be performing at one of the semi-finals on the Tattershall Castle in London on May 18 and 19, after amassing the most number of legitimate votes in our online poll.

We can also announce the rest of the semi-finalists, chosen by the Chortle judges as wildcards.

They are:

Daniel Elliot, 21, form Southampton, studying English literature at King's College London

Isa Bonachera, 23, from Roquetas de Mar in Spain and studying a masters in physics at Cambridge

James Ball, 24, from Yeovil, studying French at Queen Mary, University of London

Joe Bowley, 18, from Scarborough, studying maths at Warwick

Johnny Drewek, 24, from Guildford, studying graphic design at the University of the Arts London

Kat Sadler, 20, from Stoke-on-Trent, studying film and literature at Warwick

Liam Pickford, 25, from Ashton-under-Lyne, studying for a PGCE at University Campus Oldham

Luke Smith, 19, from Cardiff, studying drama at Manchester, who performed as Frank Foucault

Peter Davies, 22, from Carmarthen, studying comedy writing at Southampton Solent University

Stephen Ryan, 29, from Limerick, studying a PhD in History at the University of Limerick

The semi-final on May 18 will be hosted by Ray Peacock (Tickets); the one on the 19th by Ed Gamble (Tickets)
