Rare George Carlin material released
Previously unheard George Carlin recordings are to be released online.
Included are routines from the 1972 Milwaukee Summerfest concert at which Carlin was arrested for performing his infamous Seven Dirty Words routine.
Hollywood trade paper Variety reports that the material will be released on Friday as part of a revamp of Carlin's website. However it also notes that Carlin was 'stoned, distracted and dealing with a restless audience' at the gig.
The release is one of several activities keeping Carlin's legacy alive this year.
His daughter, Kelly, is working on a memoir, A Carlin Home Companion, which is due to be published in September. (Preorder)>
American satellite radio station SiriusXM is also airing rare Carlin material, including the first of his HBO specials, 1977's On Location: George Carlin at USC on April 1.
And on Friday a Carlin portrait will be unveiled in the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC.
The comedian died in 2008, at the age of 71.
Here are a couple of extracts from the Summerfest concert.
