Charlie Brooker to front election special
Charlie Brooker is to present an hour-long Weekly Wipe special to mark the Election.
BBC Two has commissioned the show in the run-up to polling day, joining Jack Dee and Rory Bremner in providing the channel's satirical commentary on the campaign.
Brooker said: 'At a time of great political uncertainty it'll be an honour to bring some much-needed confusion to the national debate.
'Since our show transmits in the run-up to the election, it will have to adhere to strict impartiality rules - which means it will, by law, be equally disparaging to all parts of the political spectrum.'
He will be joined by Morgana Robinson, Philomena Cunk (also known as comic Diane Morgan) and Barry Shitpeas (Al Campbell).
The third series of Weekly Wipe, which aired in January and February, averaged 1.5million viewers to BBC Two.
Chortle has previously reported on the three half-hour versions of Jack Dee's Election Helpdesk, to air mid-April, and the one-off Rory Bremner's Election Report, which will come after the May 7 ballot.
Dee said: 'As a live show, Helpdesk has proved to be an original format for comedy and a real hit around the country so we are all incredibly excited to be able to bring it to BBC Two.'
BBC Two controller Kim Shillinglaw claimed: 'BBC Two is the place to come for the smartest, funniest, sharpest take on the General Election' adding that Dee, Brooker and Bremner 'are just the kind of strong, lively voices I want as part of our ambitious range of new comedy'.
Yesterday, it was also announced that Frankie Boyle would be hosting a post-ballot 'autopsy' for the BBC iPlayer.
