Channel 4 releases new Comedy Blaps

With Sam Simmons and more

Channel 4 has released its latest batch of online Comedy Blaps, including a series from Sam Simmons.

The Australian comic wrote and stars in Sam Simmons: Wallstud as a socially awkward misfit.

As with his live shows, the Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee shares his inner monologue and breaks into fantasy musical numbers in the three episodes, which co-star Kim Noble, Evelyn Mok and Pulling's Cavan Clerkin.

Directed by Richard Pengelley, Wallstud is produced by Pippa Brown for Cave Bear Productions and was commissioned for Channel 4 by Fiona McDermott.

The other new series is The Art of Foley, written by and starring character comics Rich Hardisty and Andy Needle as Roger and Roger, a pair of struggling sound effect artists whose desire to capture the perfect noise hampers their relationships.

Mark Heap, Gemma Whelan, Arnab Chanda and Nina Smith of sketch duo Twisted Loaf co-star in the series, which is directed by Ben Gregor, executive produced by Rebecca Ferguson and produced by Lydia Hampson for Slim Film and Television Production.

It was commissioned for Channel 4 by Laura Riseam and Liz Lewin.

E4 has so far picked up two series based on Blaps, Michaela Coel's forthcoming Chewing Gum, and Bad Robots, the hidden camera show featuring malfunctioning technology, which returns for a second series this summer.
