New record attempt

Comedians are planning to perform a non-stop stand-up show that last eight full days, in a bid for a new world record.

The 192-hour marathon is set to take place in Nashville in April for the entire duration of the city's Wild West Comedy Festival.

If successful, it will obliterate the previous record of 80 hours – or 3 days, 8 hours – set by 150 comics the Laugh Factory in Hollywood in 2010. British comic Joe Wells attempted to beat the record in March this year in his home town of Portsmouth, but although that show lasted 40 minutes longer it does not hold the official Guinness record.

The Nashville attempt – the brainchild of local comic DJ Buckley, pictured, – will feature a mix of sets, open spots and 'shows within a show' at The East Room venue. There are also plans to live stream the event.

An IndieGoGo crowd funding page has been set up to raise the $8,000 Guinness World Records charges to have representatives at the event. And in fine pay-to-play style, a $25 donation gets you a five-minute spot on the bill 'at some point' or $150 for an hour.

Rules for the record require there to be an audience of at least ten in the room at all times.
