Gavin Webster has been named UK Circuit Comedian of 2014, as voted for by fellow professional comedians online. Roger Monkhouse was named best MC.

MRS BROWN’S BOYS topped the Christmas Day ratings. Brendan O’Carroll’s comedy attracted 7.6million viewers to BBC One at 10.05pm last night. The penultimate episode of Miranda Hart’s sitcom was also a big draw, attracting 6.67million.

THE CRACK Comedy Club in Kingston, South-West London, is being kicked out of its venue on Sunday after its landlord retired. The club has been running at the Grey Horse for 12 years, but has not secured a spot with the new managers. It will move to The Library nearby.

Miranda Hart has been voted the favourite stand-up of 2014 by readers of the Digital Spy website, followed by Jack Whitehall, Russell Howard, Lee Evans and Sarah Millican, in that order.

JONATHAN ROSS is to be the new film critic for British Airways’ in-flight magazine High Life.
