AMBASSADORS, the comedy starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb as British diplomats in a fictional central Asian country will nor be renewed for a second series, the BBC has confirmed.

CAREY MARX, Gordon Southern, James Acaster and Markus Birdman have all been nominated for best international guest at the New Zealand Comedy Guild Awards, making it an all-British shortlist. Other nominees include Trygve’s Kraken for best show concept and best artist achievement; Rhys Darby’s Short Poppies for ‘best on the box’ and best on-screen comedy performance; and Rhys Mathewson for ‘most offensive gag’. JOHN BISHOP is to play the Royal Albert Hall. His Supersonic tour will visit the London landmark on April 2, and be recorded for a future DVD release. Tickets for the show go on sale at 9am on Friday.

THE MEANING OF LIFF, Douglas Adams and John Lloyd’s classic comedy book, has been released as an iPhone app. As well as listing the liffs, place names used to describe familiar objects or experiences that English otherwise has no words for, the £1.99 program allows people to create their own, find the nearest, or share their favourites.

MIKHAIL BARYSHNIKOV is to guest star in the second series of Sky Living’s comedy Doll & Em. Also making guest appearances alongside Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells will be Ewan McGregor, Olivia Wilde and Evan Rachel Wood. The six-episode run, which will also be screened by HBO in the States, is currently in production in New York.
