Another date for Phoenix Nights
A 13th night is to be added to the stage run of Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights this morning.
Tickets will go on sale at 10am for the latest Manchester Arena gig, on February 16.
Initially just two dates were announced – January 31 and February 1 – but promoters increased the run to 12 within an hour of tickets going on sale at 11am yesterday.
They are keen to point out that means more shows than Take That’s 2015 run at the arena, and more than the ten nights Monty Python performed at The O2 London in July.
The shows sold more than 120,000 in just three hours with all all profits from the shows going to Comic Relief. A spokesperson for the charity said: ‘What an amazing day this is for the Comic Relief. This is the first time a comedy show has been produced solely for Comic Relief on this scale and what an unbelievable result so far.’
Paddy McGuinness, Dave Spikey, Neil Fitzmaurice, Toby Foster, Janice Connolly and Justin Moorhouse will all be taking part in the reunion.
Announcing the shows last week, Kay said: ’Every couple of years I like to do something for Comic Relief. I think it’s very important. Everybody’s doing it for free. Everybody’s got involved and it’s been so hard getting everyone together at the same time.’
