Eddie Izzard signs book deal
Eddie Izzard has signed a deal to write his memoirs.
The autobiography, as yet untitled, is scheduled to come out just before Christmas next year.
It will be his second book, following Dress To Kill back in 2000 – a series of conversations with comedy writer David Quantick about his life, transvestitism and comedy career.
The new book will also cover his childhood and early life, as well as rise to global stardom via live tours, the TV series The Riches and the movies such as Ocean's Twelve.
His deal is with American publisher Blue Rider Press, an imprint of Penguin Random House, although it is almost certain to be published in the UK too.
It will come four years before his planned run for London mayor.
• It was also announced today that Eddie Izzard will headline a benefit for homeless charity Shelter at the Hammersmith Apollo. Also on the February 25 bill are Josh Widdicombe, Rob Beckett, Sara Pascoe and MC Christian O’Connell. Tickets.
