Robin Williams was not on drink or drugs

Coroner's report in

Robin Williams’s death has officially been recorded as suicide.

And coroners in California have found that the comic was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol when he died in August.

A Marin County coroner's report found Williams died from asphyxia due to hanging. It added: ‘Toxicological evaluation revealed the absence of alcohol or illicit drug. Prescription medications were detected in therapeutic concentrations.’

Williams, who had been treated for depression, was found dead in his home outside San Francisco on August 11 at the age of 63.

In a statement following his death, Williams' wife Susan Schneider said she was ‘utterly heartbroken’, adding: ‘ As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.’
