Staff Room sitcom launches online comedy channel

Former Coronation Street star Brian Capron and DJ Pat Sharp are to appear in a new online sitcom.

The pair – known for playing serial killer Richard Hillmanand fronting the kids' TV series Funhouse respectively have roles in Staff Room, a five-part sitcom led by newcomers Ryan McDermott and Adam Brown. Zoe Lister – aka Zoe Carpenter from Hollyoaks – also appears.

The show is the first from new YouTube channel Wildseed Studios, which promises original, scripted comedy shows, with a new series launching every month and new episodes uploaded every week.

December: Ship of Eagles, written and directed by Joel Veitch, it's an animated sci-fi comedy about a gang of heroic imbeciles battling a ruthless dictatorship...on the moon!

January: The Marijuana Method with Gabby Best as a health and happiness guru.

February: Supercreeps, a sitcom following an unlikely trio running a live music venue. Starring Sammy Hutchison, Mark Simmons and Lucy Fennell.

March: Peter's Place an animated sitcom about ridiculous characters who prop up the bar in a local northern pub. Animated by Nicholas Bowe.

Wildseed co-founder Miles Bullough – a former Aardman animations executive who previously worked on TV shows including Trigger Happy TV and Armstrong & Miller – said: 'We know the audience is looking for fresh original voices, and Wildseed Comedy has been designed to satisfy that need.'
