Watch new sketch for US TV

Peter Serafinowicz is to parody Downtown Abbey in a new series for American TV.

The comic actor plays Lord British in eight sketches of The Britishes for satellite service DirecTV.

The first – in which a young Adolf Hitler visits the prestigious English estate - has already been released online, with the rest to air on DirecTV's Audience Network from Tuesday.

The show is made by CollegeHumor's production team and costars MADtv's Will Sasso. Sam Reich, one of the producers of the show, said: 'The Britishes is more than a Downton Abbey parody, it's a love ballad to British comedy, which — thanks to my British mother — is the comedy I grew up watching.

'Peter Serafinowicz and Will Sasso go together like Marmite and butter. It's a British thing.'
