Bill Burr gets animated

New series for Netflix

American stand-up Bill Burr is making an animated series for Netflix.

Six half-hour episodes of F Is For Family will be available in the UK from the on-demand service from next year.

Burr co-created the show with Simpsons writer Michael Price. It revolves around the Murphy family in the Seventies, ‘a time when you could smack your kid, smoke inside and bring a gun to the airport’.

Burr will voice Frank Murphy, the family's extreme patriarch, with Laura Dern playing his wife, Sue.

The comedian, who also played Patrick Kuby in Breaking Bad, said: ‘F is for Family is the show I've always wanted to do. It captures all the characters of my childhood the way I remember it to be. .. It's going to be a lot of fun to tell these stories,.’

Cindy Holland, vice-president of original content at Netflix, said: ‘Bill Burr's stand-up specials are wildly popular for us worldwide, and we're looking forward to presenting his nostalgic and unflinching take on the family comedy in this original, animated series.’

Burr’s latest stand-up special I'm Sorry You Feel That Way will premiere on Netflix on Friday December 5.
