LIVE IN LONDON: Limerick’s cheekiest ragamuffins, the plastic-bag-headed Rubberbandits bring their raucous songs to the Soho Theatre for another week-long residency of their Continental Fistfight show. Contains puppetry.
WEST END THEATRE: Adrian Edmondson, Miles Jupp, Neil Morrissey and Robert Webb are reviving Tim Firth’s hit comedy play Neville’s Island, which revolves around four out-of-shape businessmen who get lost in the Lake District when a team-building exercise goes wrong. The show, at the Duke of York's Theatre, is booking until January here.
LIVE IN LONDON: Comic Alexis Dubus is presenting a week-long series of shows that might under-the-radar shows under the banner Hidden Gems Of Edinburgh Fringe. It starts with Wil Hodgson’s stories of Britain’s hangmen in an unlikely double-bill with the rather more flippant Mat Ewins’s Six Million Dollar Ewins show.

LIVE IN EDINBURGH: The Joke Thieves format comes to the Stand with Julia Sutherland, Mark Nelson Mick Ferry, Fred MacAulay, Joe Heenan and Ray Bradshaw trying to emulate each other’s sets - either faithfully or by taking the mick; or something in between.

LIVE IN BRIGHTON: Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Romesh Ranganthan kicks off his Rom Wasn’t Built In A Day tour in his home town of Brighton, as part of the city’s ongoing comedy festival. For this, and most of his dates, it’s a double-bill with Suzi Ruffell. Schedule.
TV: Russell Howard deserts a sinking ship, as his Good News moves to BBC Two from BBC Three ahead of the youth channel being relegated to its online-only backwater. 10pm.
Friday October 24
LIVE IN BRIGHTON: Another Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee kicks off their autumn tour at the Brighton Comedy Festival. In the epic clash of Sara Pascoe Vs History, expect a funny feminist take on evolutionary theories of sexuality. Really. Schedule.
LIVE IN LONDON: There’s a strong line-up of promising up-and-comers, plus a couple of more experienced old hands at the Knock2Bag night at Rich Mix Studios in Hackney with two Edinburgh award-winners and one nominee. The bill comprises:Alex Edelman, Beth Vyse, Evelyn Mok,Romesh Ranganathan, Tom Davis and Will Adamsdale.
LIVE IN LONDON But if you live to the west of the capital, a more convenient option would be the Bush Hall gig in Shepherds Bush with another cast-iron line-up comprising Felicity Ward, John Kearns, Mike Wozniak and Tim Key.
