American satirist Bill Maher has announced a one-off London show.

The host of HBO’s Real Time will be performing at the Hammersmith Apollo on Saturday May 23 next year.

Tickets for the show will go on sale at 9am this Friday, priced from £27.50 to £42.50.

Maher previously hosted Politically Incorrect on Comedy Central and ABC but that was cancelled less than a year after he commented that the 9/11 hijackers were not cowardly, but ‘lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away’ was. He also made the documentary film Religulous, directed by Borat’s Larry Charles and has written five bestsellers.

He started his career as a stand-up in 1979 and still performs at least 50 dates a year in Las Vegas and across the US.
