Sarah Silverman's life could become a musical
Sarah Silverman’s memoirs, The Bedwetter, could become a Broadway musical.
The comedian is working with composer Adam Schlesinger who has already written ‘like five killer songs’ for the show, she revealed.
Silverman discussed the project on Howard Stern’s US radio show yesterday, adding that she would not star in the show but is co-writing the book.
Stern gave the project the thumbs up, saying: “I think this is the most original idea I’ve ever heard.”
It was Schlesinger - the Fountains of Wayne basis who also wrote songs for the stage adaptation of the John Waters film Cry-Baby – who came up with the idea, and made an approach to Silverman.
The Bedwetter, subtitled Stories of Courage, Redemption, and Pee, chronicles Silverman’s life from her New Hampshire upbringing to her career as a stand-up.
Stern asked Silverman if there would be live bedwetting on stage, to which she replied: ‘There won't be actual urine coming out of the urethra, but yes. Great question, Howard - that is why you are the best.’
