Two-hour show for local radio

Local BBC radio stations across the UK are to broadcast an evening of black comedy.

The broadcast promises to be 'a unique celebration of African-Caribbean comedy' talent.

BBC London presenters Eddie Nestor and Brenda Emmanus will be hosting the show from Broadcasting House in Central London, introducing established and up-and-coming acts.

The show will be recorded on October 11, to air from 8pm the following night,

Among those taking part are Nabil Abdul Rashid – who in 2010 at the age of 22 became the youngest black comedian to perform stand-up at the Hammersmith Apollo.

Annette Fagon, Toju, A Dot Comedian (aka Afolabi Dasaolu), Michelle De Swarte, Miss London (aka London or Dionne Hughes), Daliso Chapondo and Aurie Styla complete the comedy line-up alongside musical performances by Nyomi Gray and Lionheart.

Neila Butt, the BBC's diversity rditor for English regions, said: 'African-Caribbean Comedy is thriving across the UK and listeners can expect a fantastic show as we continue to broaden the diversity of our artistic and cultural output, bringing original material to regional audiences.'
