Send in the clown
Louis CK and Zach Galifianakis are to join forces on an a new comedy series.
America’s FX network has ordered ten episodes of their series Baskets following a successful pilot – but fans will have to wait awhile for it to hit screens, with the launch currently scheduled for 2016.
Galfianakis will star as a Californian called Chip Baskets, who is trying to pursue his dream of becoming a professional clown. But things go wrong at a prestigious clowning school in Paris, the only job he can find is with a rodeo.
FX executive Eric Schrier said: ‘To say Zach’s portrayal of the lead character Chip Baskets is hilarious/unique/riveting/fascinating would be an understatement. We can’t wait for the world to meet him.’
Galfianakis created the show with CK and Jonathan Krisel, a writer on Portlandia and Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! Krisel directed the pilot and will be the show runner
Baskets is the first project under a deal between FX and CK’s production company Pig Newton.
