RADIO: Comic Fringes, a series of short stories featuring new writing by leading comedians, recorded live at the Edinburgh Fringe, kicks off with a tale from Romesh Ranganathan. Coming up over the next two Sundays, will be tales by Irish comic Grainne Maguire and satirist John O'Farrell. Radio 4, 7.45pm

LIVE IN BOURNEMOUTH: Lee Evans kicks off what will be another phenomenally successful tour, the aptly-named Monsters, at the BIC. It will ultimately take in more than 60 arena dates and the inevitable DVD. Ker-ching!

Tuesday August 19

LIVE IN NORWICH: Five years after their last appearance, Norfolk comedy favourites The Nimmo Twins - Owen Evans and Karl Minns – return with a new show, Fritton’s Got Talent, for a ten-night run at the Norwich Playhouse.

LIVE IN CHELMSFORD: Su Pollard and Cannon and Ball have teamed up for a silly romp entitled Ha Ha Hood! And The Prince of Leaves – the follow-up to Ha Ha Holmes!, Ha Ha Hitler! and Ha Ha Hamlet! It kicks of a nationwide tour with a week at Chelmsford Civic Theatres, opening tonight. Dates.

NEWS: It’s the moment a lot of comics have spent a lot of time, tears and energy waiting for: The announcement of the shortlists for the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards. LIVE IN EDINBURGH: The winner of So You Think You’re Funny? The competition for the newest of new acts, will be crowned at the Gilded Balloon final. 7.30pm.

LIVE IN GALWAY: Lee Mack kicks off his new tour, Hit The Road Mack, with a couple of nights in Galway’s Black Box Theatre; then three nights in Vicar Street, Dublin, before hitting the UK. Full schedule.
