Eddie Izzard joins the superhuman
Eddie Izzard is to star in a new supernatural TV series Powers, based on the graphic novel series of the same name. The show, for the Sony Playstation Network follows the lives of two homicide detectives who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities.
JIM DAVIDSON is to appear in the Fringe play Outings, about coming out as gay. He is set to take the guest spot in the show, inspired by Tom Daley and starring Rob Deering, Andrew Doyle, Zoe Lyons and Camille Ucan, on Sunday August 24. It is billed as his only fringe engagement outside his own show.
THE Amused Moose Laughter Awards have announced their ten finalists. Extracts from all the shortlisted shows from the Fringe will be performed at the final in Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon, with the winner getting £5,000. The finalists are: Beasts, Celia Pacquola, Chris Turner, Loretta Maine, Lou Sanders, Pierre Novellie, Ria Lina, Rob Deering, Tom Toal and Trygve Wakenshaw’s Kraken.
NEW stand-up specials from Jim Jefferies, Chelsea Handler, Chelsea Peretti, Bill Cosby and Bill Burr are to be added to the Netflix catalogue this autumn. Jefferies' show is first up, on August 29.
COMICS taking part in the Fringe dating show Take A Comedian Outon Tuesday have decided to donate profits to mental health charity Mind following the death of Robin Williams. The gig at the Pleasance Grand on Tuesday will be hosted by David Morgan and feature comedians including Matt Richardson, John Kearns, Romesh Ranganathan and Midnight Beast.
