Jethro sells his Cornish club

'The new acts aren't for me...'

Cornish stand-up Jethro is selling off his comedy club, saying he's no time for new comedians.

The comic, whose real name is Geoff Rowe, set up the venue in his own name in 1989, but it closed to the public in 2012.

Now the 66-year-old is selling the building, including everything in it, saying: 'The club is an icon from a wonderful period of comedy but that age of comedy is over now, times have changed.

'The great acts I knew are gone and the new acts just aren’t for me,' he told the Plymouth Herald. 'I am still doing theatre tours but without the extra workload, I am able to enjoy my job again.'

The club will go up for auction on August 6, alongside with lots including catering equipment, a pool table, a PA system – and taxidermy including a mounted otter.
