Nina Conti to front BBC variety show
Nina Conti is set to front a new-look variety show for BBC Two.
Her Va-Va-Riety Show promises a mix of cabaret, burlesque, magic, musical comedy and circus performance and follows the success of live showcases such as La Clique and La Soirée which have reinvigorated the genre.
A one-off show is being taped at London's Theatre Royal Stratford East on July 28.
The BBC has been keen to work with ventriloquist Conti, who was named best female TV comic at last year's British Comedy Awards for her appearance on Live At The Apollo.
Late last year she hosted a non-broadcast pilot of another entertainment format for the Corporation, Speak For Yourself, which was described as a 'Mr & Mrs-style' show.
She also wowed the crowd at Tim Minchin's British Summertime gig in Hyde Park last night (Review)
