Sky 1 orders a second series

Sky 1 has commissioned a second series of its family comedy series Yonderland.

Filming on the new episodes –  created by and starring the cast of Horrible Histories – will start this autumn, ready to air next autumn.

The series, which mixes puppets and human actors follows the adventures of ordinary mum Debbie Maddox – plated by Martha Howe-Douglas – as she takes on evil in a parallel universe.

The rest of team behind the show is Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond; while Dan Skinner also appears as Debbie's husband Peter.

Adam MacDonald, director of Sky 1, said: 'We are incredibly proud to be able to bring Yonderland back for a second joyful series. The show epitomises Sky 1, it is a brilliantly creative, cheeky, laugh-out-loud show that the whole family can relish”.

Juliette Howell, from programme-makers Working Title Television added: 'It’s fantastic to be returning to Yonderland with our wonderfully creative, funny and talented team. It has been such a treat revisiting our favourite characters and seeing new ones emerge. We can’t wait for the audience to have a chance to enjoy them as well.'
