Top comics nominated for Rose D'Or
Bridget Christie, Tom Wrigglesworth and Jeremy Hardy have all been nominated for prestigious Rose D'Or international broadcasting awards.
All three have been shortlisted for best radio comedy – making the category a clean sweep for not only the UK, but Radio 4.
The nominated shows are Tom Wrigglesworth's Hang Ups; Bridget Christie Minds The Gap and Jeremy Hardy Speaks To The Nation.
Caroline Raphael, commissioning editor for Radio 4, said: 'It is very pleasing indeed to see the nominated programmes and their stars recognised internationally. These shows have helped set new standards in different ways for stand-up comedy on BBC Radio 4 and given a lot of pleasure to the listeners.'
In TV comedy, Britain is being represented by a very different sort of comedian – Keith Lemon – since the revival of Through the Keyhole has been nominated for that category.
He's up against In Laughing Memory: Cath Luyten from Belgium and Little Mom from Israel.
Nominated in the separate sitcom category are Matt Berry's Toast of London and Sky1's puppet comedy Yonderland. They face competition from Please Like Me, the comedy from Australian stand-up Josh Thomas.
And in best entertainment show, A League Of Their Own and The Graham Norton show have been shortlisted against Germany's Circus Halli Galli
Eurovision director Annika Nyberg Frankenhaeuser said: 'The variety and volume of countries and producers has been outstanding. They show us loud and clear that the quantity and quality of entertainment programming across all platforms is continuing to thrive.'
The winners will be announced in Berlin, on September 17.
