Noel Fielding to play Montreal fest
Noel Fielding, Luisa Omielan and Jimmy Carr are to appear at the Just For Laughs comedy festival in Montreal this summer.
They are the only British stand-ups named in today’s launch announcement for the 32nd festival.
And the traditional Britcom showcase of UK acts has been replaced with a ‘Brit-ish’ show, hosted by Fielding but featuring acts from across the Commonwealth. Meanwhile, Omielan will be performing her award-winning solo show What Would Beyoncé Do?
Other acts lined up to appear over the July event include The Boy With Tape On His Face, Jim Jefferies, David O’Doherty, Adam Hills and Tommy Tiernan.
While headline names include Don Rickles, Seth Rogen, Andy Samberg, Aziz Ansari, Russell Peters and Lewis Black.
It was also announced that Bill Burr will receive the stand-up performer of the year award, handed out as part of the festival.
The Montreal Just For Laughs Festival revolves around large, televised gala shows and has traditionally been seen as a gateway to US TV deals. Comedians perform there by invitation only.
