Katy Wix publishes monologues
KATY WIX is to release a collection of 40 monologues designed for female performers. The contents of The Oberon Book of Comic Monologues for Women started life as audition speeches the comedian and Not Going Out star wrote for students at drama schools. In a foreword, Jennifer Saunders said: ‘Each piece is bubbling with the quirky genius that makes Miss Wix one of the funniest performers / writers around’. THE MUSICAL version of David Baddiel’s The Infidel is to open at London’s Theatre Royal Stratford East on October 3. Booking for the month-long run – with music composed by Erran Baron Cohen, Sacha’s brother – opened at noon today, but casting details have not been revealed.
LUISA OMIELAN is recording a pilot comedy show for Radio 2. The creator of the live hit Would Beyonce Do? explores the world of dating and heartbreak in the trial episode of Luisa Omielan’s Party, to be recorded in London on May 12. Tickets
GRAHAM LINEHAN won the Bafta Craft award for comedy writing for The IT Crowd. He was also nominated alongside Steve Delaney for Count Arthur Strong; while also shortlisted were James Corden and Mathew Baynton for The Wrong Mans and Sam Bain, Jesse Armstrong and Tom Basden for Fresh Meat.
VENTRILOQUIST Keith Harris has revealed that he has beaten cancer. He told an audience at a caravan park in Prestatyn, North Wales, at the weekend that he was given a year to live ‘…but here I am.’
