Angus Deayton hosts World Cup special
Angus Deayton is to host an It’ll Be Alright On The Night-style look at ‘the funny side of the World Cup’.
The one-off ITV show, World Cup’s Epic Fails, will be recorded in front of a live studio audience next month.
Producers promise ‘all the foul-ups in one place both on-pitch and off, including cringe-worthy opening ceremonies, the styles & fashions through the decades, players’ tears and tantrums and plenty of never-seen-before out-takes and bloopers’.
Deayton – most recently seen in BBC Three sitcom Pramface – is an avowed football fanatic and says one of his greatest memories is tunning out on to the Wembley pitch wearing an England shirt for the 2008 Soccer Aid charity match.
He also takes place a weekly game with celebrity pals including David Baddiel, Clive Anderson and Hugh Dennis in a team called the Snakepit Strollers, who have been playing together since tehe Eighties.
Meanwhile, Jack and Michael Whitehall are also reviving their Backchat show for a World Cup special.
It is one of two extra episodes of the BBC Three talk show to be aired in June, the other revolving around Father’s Day.
The World Cup kicks off on June 12.
All the shows are being recorded in May. Click here to apply for free audience tickets.
