Six new episodes for autumn

Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong’s police-based comedy-drama Babylon is to return for a six-part series.

Filming on the Channel 4 series has just started in London, following the success of the pilot episode in February.

Although the original was directed by Danny Boyle, the new series will be helmed by Jon S. Baird and Sally El Hosaini. Boyle remains an executive producer.

The core cast, including Brit Marling, James Nesbitt, Paterson Joseph and Bertie Carvel are all returning, while Jon Brown, whose credits include Bain and Armstrong’s Fresh Meat, joins the writing team.

Babylon is due to air in the autumn.

Yesterday Chortle reported how Armstrong is writing a Hollywood comedy about two hapless guards patrolling the US-Mexico border, set to star Will Ferrell and his Talladega Nights co-star John C. Reilly.
