Russell Brand films drug documentary

60-minute show for BBC Three

Russell Brand is to present a film about drug addiction treatment around the world for BBC Three.

The one-hour documentary, titled Give It Up, follows his 2012 programme From Addiction to Recovery, and will show Brand interviewing political decision-makers, police officials and addicts from all strata of society

He has spent the last 18 months making the film and also travelled to Switzerland to find out more about the country's approach to treatment.

The documentary follows the news that Brand is to appear on a Channel 4 series called Love For Sale, talking frankly about his use of prostitutes.

Give It Up is one of seven factual and current affairs commissions from BBC Three, which controller Zai Bennett said ‘demonstrate the range and quality that BBC Three viewers expect’.

In one of the other commissions, Eye of the Tyger, Outnumbered and Cuckoo actor Tyger Drew Honey will explore the impact of pornography, online dating and male body image over three episodes.
