Shows for Stewart Lee, Frankie Boyle, Micky Flanagan and more

Frankie Boyle, Bob Mortimer, Micky Flanagan and Stewart Lee are to make new shows exclusively for the BBC iPlayer.

The news came as the corporation unveiled a new version of the iPlayer, which is due to be the exclusive home of BBC Three under cost-cutting measures.

Few details have yet been revealed about the shows other than their titles, but they form a series of comedy shorts for the iPlayer that also includes contributions from Meera Syal, Morgana Robinson and Matt Berry.

Victoria Jaye, head of TV content for the iPlayer says: ‘Each comedian is doing a comedy short exclusively for BBC iPlayer, a ‘passion piece’ they’ve always wanted to do - these range from an Austro-German medical caper set in the Forties, to a live cookery show.

‘They are as long as they are funny, and will be available on iPlayer from May.’

The shows are:

Micky Flanagan's Foxageddon

Frankie Boyle and Bob Mortimer’s Cookery Show

Reece Shearsmith: The Case Of The High Foot

The writers/performers are a group of friends who were spotted by the BBC after making five-minute YouTube videos, They were previously commissioned to make Comedy Feeds for iPlayer, and have now been commissioned for four half-hour episodes for BBC Three, which will be available on iPlayer from May.
