Railway carriage becomes a comedy club

Rail passengers en route from London to Glasgow are to be entertained by a stand-up comedy gig.

The stunt is to promote the Glasgow International Comedy Festival and features Patrick Monahan, John Hastings, Damian Clark, JoJo Sutherland, Ray Bradshaw, John Gavin and Phil Nichol (pictured).

Festival director Sarah Watson said: ‘We’ve done gigs in airports, stations and on streets but this is the first time that we’ve tried a comedy set on a train. You need nerves of steel to get up on any stage but this is a particularly daunting proposition.’

Adrian Varma from Virgin Trains, added: ‘I’m really looking forward to seeing how they manage the space.

The comedians will be performing in a specially designated ‘comedy carriage’ on the 14:30 departure from Euston next Thursday, February 27.
