The pair will be taking over the Sunday morning show on the station starting this weekend. The slot that has previously been presented by the likes of Ricky Gervais and Adam and Joe.

XFM’s managing editor Chris Baughen said: ‘Elis and John will entertain our listeners, like many of the comedy greats who have gone before them.’

In a statement the duo added: ‘We're delighted to be taking over the Sunday morning slot on a station that’s championed British comedy over the years. If we can re-create just one per cent of some of our all-time classic chats then hopefully minds will be blown across the UK. Game on!’

James and Robins presented a one-off show for the station last month, as part of a series of six featuring comedians as guest presenters. Others who took part in that were Seann Walsh, James Acaster, David Trent, Suzi Ruffell, Chris Martin, Tom Rosenthal and Ivo Graham.
