Beckham in Peckham
David Beckham has joined Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst to film the Only Fools And Horses ‘comeback’ sketch.
The scene, for Sports Relief, is the first time Del Boy and Rodney have been reunited in more than a decade.
Beckham appears alongside the duo in a greasy spoon cafe in the skit, which will air on BBC One on March 21.
Sir David and Lyndhurst last played the Trotter brothers in a Christmas special in 2003 – so this will be the characters’ first outing the first since writer John Sullivan died, at the age of 64, in 2011. His sons Jim and Dan wrote the sketch.
Comic Relief chief executive Kevin Cahill, said: ‘Only Fools and Horses is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. It's incredible that those involved with the show since the very beginning have come together for this Sport Relief special and we're especially touched that Jim and Dan Sullivan wrote the sketch together using some of their dad John's old notes.
‘To be able to record a new Only Fools and Horses sketch is in itself very special but for David Beckham, who is a huge fan of the show, to be part of this is truly brilliant. We would like to thank everyone involved for helping to make this happen.’
Beckham has taken part in several sketches for Sport Relief over the years, including sharing a bath with James Corden in 2012:
