Blackwood scoops 3 Black Comedy Awards
Richard Blackwood was the big winner at the Black Comedy Awards this week, scooping three accolades.
The event, now in its tenth year, also honoured Felix Dexter, who died in October at the age of 52, with a lifetime achievement award. Blackwood was named best stand-up comedy host, and won two awards for playing the Donkey in Shrek, which ran in the West End until February. For that he was named best supporting actor, while the show took the comedy theatre award.
Gina Yashere was a double winner of Thursday night’s ceremony, held in Wembley, North West London. She took the tautological ‘best female comedienne’ award, while her show Skinny Bitch was named most popular DVD.
