Freddie Starr rebailed again

Lawyers 'astonished' at delays

Freddie Starr has been rebailed again on allegations of historic sexual offences – prompting his lawyers to complain about the length of time the investigation is taking.

Starr, 70 was first arrested in November 2012, was re-arrested in April when more claims against him were made.

Today he has been told by officers from Operation Yewtree that he has been rebailed again, this time until December 5.

The comedian has consistently denied any wrongdoing, and had hoped that answering bail today would have ended the matter.

His lawyer Dean Dunham released a statement saying: ‘We are astonished at the amount of time this investigation is taking in relation to Freddie and indeed surprised, on the basis of what has been put to him, that he even remains under investigation.’
