John Bishop announces arena tour
John Bishop has announced a 34-date arena tour for autumn 2014.
His new Supersonic tour kicks off at the Plymouth Pavilions on October 22, and winds up in his home town of Liverpool on December 20.
It follows his 2012 Rollercoaster tour, which sold 500,000 seats – and this one looks set to be even bigger.
Bishop had taken the last 18 months off to write his autobiography, which has just been published.
He said: ‘Stand-up is the reason my career is what it is today and I’ve had time to reflect on that this past year. I love the immediacy of stand up and I feel a real closeness to my audience while on stage. I love nothing more than giving them a laugh and I can’t wait to get back out on the road.
‘My family also can’t wait as I am driving them all mad at home now that I’ve written my book.’
Bishop was last week announced as host of this year’s Royal Variety Performance... and he will also be hosting his own TV special on Boxing Day.
Tickets for the UK tour go on sale at 9am on Thursday, or October 31 for the Dublin O2 date. Click here for the full schedule.
The achingly cheesy blurb for the tour reads: ‘Ground control to Major John! Strap yourselves in, set doors to manual and cross check, the new John Bishop national tour is preparing for take off! The countdown is on for the launch of John Bishop’s latest national comedy caper.... Set the controls for the heart of the fun!His brand new show Supersonic will be smashing through comedy Mach 3. Get ready for a comic boom of guffaws. So – grab your ticket, sit back and prepare for maximum comedy G force!’
