James Corden goes Into The Woods

...with a host of comedy names

Comedy favourites including James Corden, Tracey Ullman and Richard Glover have joined the cast of the movie version of Into The Woods.

They join such A-listers as Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Johnny Depp in Disney's adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway musical.

The film, based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, is currently shooting in studio and on location throughout England, directed by Rob Marshall, who previously helmed Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Comedy names among the supporting cast include:

James Corden, who will play Emily Blunt’s husband. He is the hard-working Baker, she his childless wife who is desperate to start a family.

• Frances de la Tour, from Rising Damp and the new ITV sitcom Vicious, who will play the Jack And The Beanstalk giant – and Tracey Ullman, who plays Jack's exasperated mother.

Richard Glover, from the Pros From Dover sketch team and Hopkins and Glover double act, will play a royal steward. His agent said: ‘It’s pretty cool, he has to ride a horse  AND he’s filming with Meryl Streep!’

• Annette Crosbie from One Foot In The Grave, who plays Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother.

Depp will play the wolf who targets Little Red Riding Hood, while Streep is a witch. The ensemble cast also includes Simon Russell Beale; Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine.
