Just saying...
The comedy week ahead...
Sunday October 6
LIVE IN HARROGATE: Another week, another comedy festival - or three. Harrogate’s starts with an evening with Reggie Perrin writer David Nobbs and a tour date from the always affable Justin Moorhouse, and later includes visits from Alexei Sayle, Stewart Lee, Andy Parsons and many, many more.
Monday October 7
TV: Is TV crying out for a new panel game? Whatever the answer David Mitchell hosts this one – Was It Something I Said? – based around sources of quotations, tweets or autobiographies. In episode one, team captains Micky Flanagan and Richard Ayoade are joined by Jimmy Carr and Charlie Higson - so no breaking the male-dominance of panel shows there.
LIVE IN LONDON: Double-act Max & Ivan bring their deservedly Edinburgh Comedy Award nominated multi-character narrative The Reunion to the Soho Theatre for a week. Click here to read our review from the Fringe.
Tuesday October 8
LIVE IN NEWCASTLE: Come and join tremendous idiot Marmaduke Spatula as he twats about like a dick. So says the blurb for curious oddball Seymour Mace’s current project at The Stand. Expect weirdness.
LIVE IN LONDON: Al Murray’s The Only Way Is Epic passes through the capital for the last time, with this gig at the Shepherds Bush Empire. Tickets.
LIVE IN LONDON: The man with many labels – vocalist/ beatboxer/ musician/ comedian/ improvisor – Reggie Watts plays two intimate dates at Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall tonight and tomorrow, laying down tracks on the spot using only his formidable voice and looping pedals.
Thursday October 10
LIVE IN SALFORD: Over-friendly, if anything, Mrs Barbara Nice presents both an adult and a family version of her feelgood shenanigans at the Kings Arms, as part of the ongoing Women In Comedy festival across Greater Manchester.
LIVE IN LIVERPOOL: Top podcaster and playful MC Ray Peacock comperes Prince Of Puns Gary Delaney tonight and tomorrow at Comedy Central in Baby Blue.
Saturday October 12
LIVE IN LEAMINGTON SPA: It’s officially the start of the week-long Leamington Comedy Festival, although the day’s events amount to face-painting and a couple of kids’ shows. But later in the week, the likes of Lee Mack, Richard Herring and Terry Alderton rock up.
