A tight 5: October 2

TED 2 – the follow-up to Seth MacFarlane’s top-grossing comedy movie – is to be released in the US on June 26, 2015, Universal Pictures has announced. Family Guy creator MacFarlane will return as writer, director and co-star along with star Mark Wahlberg.

RADIO 4 has commissioned a second series of the sci-fi sitcom My First Planet. Written by Phil Whelans and co-starring Vicki Pepperdine and Tom Goodman-Hill, the show is set in a space colony. New episodes are to be recorded in front of a studio audience in London from later this month. See our free tickets page to watch the taping.

THE second episode of James Corden and Mathew Bayton’s comedy The Wrong Mans lost 900,000 viewers on the first, according to overnight figures. But its 2.12million viewers is still a good showing for BBC Two at 10pm, and above the psychologically important 2million. Meanwhile, Sarah Millican's Television Programme, which preceded it, was seen by 1.57million.

IMPROV troupe The Noise Next Door won the £100 for the best Chortle Correspondents contribution in September, for their article calling on the Edinburgh Comedy Awards to recognise improv.

APPLICATIONS are now open for comedians wanting to take part in the 10th Sydney Comedy Festival , which takes place from April 22 to May 17. Apply through the event website by November 18.
