John Bishop to hit the Fringe

One-off benefit for ill comedy director

John Bishop is to make a one-off appearance at the Edinburgh Fringe, in a fundraiser for comedy director Paul Byrne.

Byrne was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the start of the festival, and has returned home to London for an extensive course of chemotherapy.

Now a top line-up of festival comedians are to stage a special revival of Andrew Maxwell’s late-night Fullmooners show, which Byrne directed, as a benefit for him.

Acts so far confirmed for PaulMooners include Byrne’s brother Ed as well as Phill Jupitus, Glenn Wool, Terry Alderton and Jason Byrne, who is no relation.

It takes place in the 1,000-capacity McEwan Hall at midnight next Wednesday night, and tickets are £15, available from Fringe box offices and the ‘big four’ venues.

Bishop played a full Fringe run at the McEwan Hall in 2010, the last time he was at the festival.
